08 Feb 2012 : Tire Rack Parking Changes

To all competitors in the 2012 Tire Rack One Lap of America:

Due to construction at the Tire Rack facility in South Bend, the area they have let us use to the west of the building for long-term parking of trucks, trailers and extra vehicles during the event will not be available this year. And while their construction is scheduled to be completed in early May, what was grass last year will likely be a mud bog when we return this year.

The host hotel, the Waterford Estates Lodge, has plenty of parking for our vehicles, including trailers, while we are driving around the country.

Two points to remember:

During Friday registration and both Saturday skid pad challenges, Tire Rack associates will be parking in the first row along the building to the west of the employee entrance, as well as on the grass in the spectator parking area by the main drive entrance. In order to allow their associates to use the parking lot when we are on the road, the folks at Tire Rack have asked that no support vehicles be left at Tire Rack from Friday night before the start until when we return for the finish. You are welcome to drop off your competition vehicle and have support vehicles at Tire Rack during registration, but when we leave after the Driver's Meeting on Friday afternoon, please take all extra vehicles to the hotel.

The hotel has set aside an area for our long-term parking. Please use that lot. They have assured me that the lot is safe and I have no reason to believe otherwise. Obviously, there are no guarantees and removing all items from the interior and securing them in the trunk or trailer would be prudent.

Any questions? Please don't hesitate to give me a call.
