Road America Named Outstanding Facility of the 2012 Tire Rack One Lap of America Presented by Grassroots Motorsports Magazine
WILMETTE, IL � May 15, 2012 - National Speedway Directory, presented the outstanding facility award to Road America following the 2012 Tire Rack One Lap of America Presented By Grassroots Motorsports Magazine.
Road America, located in Elkhart Lake, Wisconsin is one the nation's most renowned facilities. Opened in 1955, it continues to host all forms of professional and amateur racing. Standing the test of time, every driver seeks to master the challenging turns, elevation changes and high speed straights of Road America.
Special recognition was given to Hallet Motor Racing Circuit � Hallet, Oklahoma for being the most visited facility in the history of the One Lap of America. In addition, the Tire Rack Test Track � South Bend, Indiana was recognized for the being the host facility for the One Lap of America.
"The recipients of these awards have been important supporters of the One Lap of America," said Tim Frost, publisher of National Speedway Directory. "We are pleased to acknowledge the selections of the competitors in this year's event."
The awards were presented at the banquet following the 29th running to the Tire Rack One Lap of America Presented by Grassroots Motorsports Magazine. The 2012 event had 75 teams, 150 competitors participating in 19 stages at 10 tracks and traveled 3,500 miles through 10 states over eight days.
"Competitors are looking to visit new venues, but tradition and legacy remain important," said Brock Yates, Jr., Event Coordinator of the One Lap of America. "To draw new drivers, this event varies its route annually to offer unique tracks that tests their skills and machines."

One Lap of America
The Tire Rack One Lap of America Presented by Grassroots Motorsports Magazine is the modern day version of the Cannonball Sea to Shining Sea Memorial Trophy Dash of 1970. Created by Brock Yates and popularized by the movie Cannonball Run, today's One Lap of America challenges it's participants to endure long transit drives and to compete on Americas most challenging racetracks for 8 consecutive days. Currently headed by Brock Yates Jr, next year's One Lap will mark the 30th anniversary of this ultimate automotive challenge.
